Like everyone else in quarantine due to COVID-19, I don’t like staying home. I miss my family and friends, I miss bringing my daughter to gymnastics class, I miss going out to dinner, I miss Target. I miss the sense of security I’d been used to.
I also know that I’m incredibly lucky that my job has not changed much. No, I don’t see my colleagues in person every day at our office. But my company invested in the digital workplace infrastructure that ensures that I can access the task-critical information I need and the collaboration tools that I want. And I don’t have to go anywhere to do it.
I can’t control much of what’s going on around me right now, but I’m secure in the knowledge that, at the very least, I’m able to do my job and do it well. I am still contributing to the ongoing success of my company, and I’m doing it from my own home where I know my family and I are safe.
